Rental Units Boom Back in City of Lowell

There is a demand to live in downtown Lowell, and the model unit at Counting House Lofts is proof.
The top-floor unit, with exposed brickwork and soaring 15-foot wood-beam ceilings and outfitted with plush furniture and modern decorations, has already been accounted for. In fact, a tenant was to move in only days after a May 15 ribbon-cutting ceremony to officially mark the opening of the 52-unit Jackson Street development.

Lowell, Mass.—A ribbon-cutting ceremony has officially marked the completion of the Counting House Lofts apartment community in Lowell, Mass.
Developed by WinnDevelopment, the development arm of Boston-based WinnCommunities, Counting House Lofts is the adaptive reuse of a 147-year-old manufacturing plant as mixed-income housing.

Indian Trails Apartment Complex Awarded $9.6 Million for Renovations

The owners of the Indian Trails apartment complex in Malone will receive $9.569 million for renovations at the 40-year-old facility, Gov, Andrew M. Cuomo’s office announced Tuesday.
The money is part of $141 million that is being awarded to build and preserve affordable housing throughout the state of New York, Cuomo’s office said.

New York State Funds $10.2 million to Support the Sibley Building

A vision of Chase Tower filled with sleek apartments and condos. Millions of dollars to help redevelop the Sibley Building. A plan to rehab another historic downtown structure. Last but not least, open-air limos that you pedal with your feet.
These were just a few signs of continued transformation in the center city to emerge Tuesday at the Rochester Downtown Development Corp.'s annual Downtown Rising luncheon at the Radisson Hotel Rochester Riverside.
"Our city is changing very quickly and it will be barely recognizable within the next number of years," predicted Andy Gallina, president of Gallina Development Corp.
