$70,000 in Scholarships Have Been Awarded to Residents and Dependents

Boston, MA (July 27, 2023) – WinnCompanies, today announced it awarded $70,000 in scholarships to 59 residents of WinnResidential-managed apartment communities, as well as 11 dependents of company team members, to support their post-secondary education at colleges, universities, or professional trade schools.

The 70 scholarship recipients in 2023 are from 13 states: 31 residents of 14 WinnResidential communities, 28 residents of 11 WinnResidential Military Housing Services communities, and 11 dependents of company team members.

“The WinningEdge Scholarship program is one way we reaffirm our commitment to improving the communities and the lives of the people we serve,” said WinnCompanies CEO Gilbert Winn. “Since we launched this program in 2012, we have awarded more than $645,000 in scholarships to more than 600 people. We are pleased to make this down payment for the bright future of the families of residents and employees."

Our partner, uAspire, and the WinnCompanies scholarship committee evaluated scholarship applications, including transcripts, essays, and personal references, to select recipients based on their academic performance, financial need, demonstrated leadership in school, community, or place of work.

It is a privilege to be a recipient and I will use these funds to help open doors of opportunity that will enable me to give back to my community,” said Shalei Okamura, age 20, from Fort Carvazos, TX, attending Cameron University in Lawton, Oklahoma.
