WinnCompanies Celebrates National Night Out with Events at 87 Communities in 17 States and Washington, DC

Boston Mayor Walsh among the public officials joining residents to promote safety.

BOSTON, MA (August 3, 2015) Boston Mayor Martin J. Walsh, Police Commissioner William B. Evans and Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel Conley will join tens of thousands of residents in communities managed by WinnResidential tomorrow to celebrate National Night Out 2015, the annual event to promote police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie.


WinnResidential properties in 17 states and Washington, D.C., will participate in National Night Out, including activities at 75 Winn-managed multifamily communities from California to Florida to Massachusetts, as well as 12 massive military communities that the company manages in a joint venture with Lend Lease.


National Night Out has always been a great opportunity to demonstrate Winn's commitment to have a positive impact on the quality of life in the communities where we live and work, said Gilbert J. Winn, CEO of WinnCompanies. Some of our properties have celebrated National Night Out for the 20 straight years. It's a fun but important event that works to strengthen and support the safety and well-being of our residents and partners.


National Night Out was created in 1984 by the National Association of Town Watch as annual campaign to make neighborhoods safer, better places to live. In 2014, more than 38 million people from 16,450 communities in all 50 states participated in block parties, festivals, marches and other events designed to create stronger cooperation between residents, public safety personnel and public officials.


Mayor Walsh and Commissioner Evans are scheduled to Tuesday's National Night Out celebration at theCastle Square Apartments, a 550-unit mixed income in Boston's South End, hosted by the Castle Square Tenants Association.


In Worcester, at the Wellington & Matheson communities, some 1,200 residents are expected to participate along with Worcester Country District Attorney Joseph D. Early Jr., Worcester County Sheriff Lewis G. Evangelidis and former Boston Red Sox star Bernie Carbo.


Mystic Place in Medford, a 465-unit unit community, will be celebrating National Night out for its 20th consecutive year with a neighborhood party and visits from State Rep. Paul J. Donato and State Rep. Christine P. Barber.


Events also are scheduled at WinnResidential properties in Cambridge, Salem, and Webster, MA; in 36 communities throughout mid and southern California; Fort Walton Beach, FL; College Park, Columbus, Duluth and Gainesville, GA; Linthicum, MD; Glassboro, N.J.; Fairport and Henrietta, N.Y.; Bethlehem, Philadelphia and Somerset, PA; Bryson City, Durham and Raleigh, N.C.; Providence, R.I.; Alexandria, Richmond, and Triangle, VA; and, three communities in Washington, D.C.


Military communities in Hawaii, Kentucky, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Kentucky, North Carolina, New Mexico, New York and Texas comprising more than 33,400 residences -- are also planning to host National Night Out celebrations.
