WinnCompanies Awards 94 WinningEdge Scholarships to Residents in 13 States and Washington, D.C.

BOSTON (Sep. 25, 2019) – WinnCompanies, today announced the recipients of the WinningEdge Scholarship for the 2019-2020 school year, awarding financial support to 85 residents at Winn-managed properties who are pursuing post-secondary education. The company also awarded scholarships to the children or dependents of nine of its employees.

In the past nine years, WinnCompanies has committed more than $390,000 in scholarships toward individuals who are pursuing a better quality of life for themselves and their families. Through the WinningEdge Scholarship Program, residents at communities managed by WinnResidential or WinnResidential Military Housing and children/dependents of WinnCompanies team members apply for awards to support their post-secondary education at a college, university or professional trade school.

More than 300 residents have received scholarships through the program since its inception in 2012.

This year, 94 WinningEdge scholarships were awarded to recipients from 13 states and the District of Columbia. Of those, 43 of the scholars live in communities managed by WinnResidential in California, Connecticut, Maryland, Massachusetts, New York, Rhode Island, Virginia and Washington, D.C. An additional 42 scholarship recipients are residents of privatized military communities managed by WinnResidential Military Housing Services, a joint-venture of WinnCompanies and Lendlease. The military scholars hail from Alaska, Hawaii, Kentucky, New York, North Carolina, South Carolina and Texas.

In addition, nine children of WinnCompanies team members from three states, Connecticut, Massachusetts and Kentucky, were also awarded scholarships as part of the WinningEdge Employee Scholarship, an annual effort launched in 2018.

Team members at WinnCompanies evaluated all WinningEdge scholarship applications, including transcripts, essays and personal references, and chose recipients based on their academic performance, character, and proficiency in their chosen field of study.
